A bit about the band…

The band’s name, Tinkers Ditch, is taken from that of an ancient right of way in Kirtlington, only a stone's throw from one of the two village pubs.

The present band members have built a solid reputation as a professional band that has the flexibility to adapt its repertoire to suit different age groups, events and venues.

A typical ceilidh/barn dance with Tinkers Ditch would be an evening (around three and a half hours) which begins with a few easier dances as we create an opportunity for everyone to get involved. With each dance, we’ll talk/walk you through the steps before the dance begins and, even once the music gets under way, we’ll continue calling the instructions until the dancers have got the hang of it.

Thereafter, we can further ‘tweak’ our performance to meet the needs of the audience, taking account of ages, ability and energy levels of the dancers. Throughout the evening, we’ll create opportunities for people to rest between dances, whilst we sing a song or play a tune… a good time for dancers to catch their breath or grab a drink!

We’ll happily work with you to design and arrange the evening’s programme to suit you and your guests. Just let us know what will work best for you and we’ll tailor our programme to suit.
